Some of the new features previewed today included a tile-based Start screen with apps displaying notifications similar to Windows Phone.  The apps were shown switching between running apps with snapping and resizing capability. Windows 8 will have web-connected and web-powered apps built using HTML5 and JavaScript. Microsoft also showed a touch-optimized Internet Explorer 10.

Microsoft is taking a smart approach appealing to the massive consumer market that wants a simple computing experience with apps and touch friendliness. They are still not leaving behind their corporate customers by keeping their Windows 7 environment. It seems Microsoft wants you to install one operating system for all your devices. The tablet market just got a little more competitive.
