In addition to Sony Pictures’ panel, the action comedy 30 Minutes or Less, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBride, Nick Swardson, Aziz Ansari, Michael Pena, and Fred Ward was introduced to the audience. Unfortunately, Eisenberg and McBride were unable to attend. On the bright side, Danny McBride made a hysterical introduction video for the fans. The fun didn’t stop there, we were shortly introduced to a bank robbery clip right after!

During the bank robbery clip, we witnessed the great comedic duo of Eisenberg and Ansari and their attempt to rob the bank. The scene demonstrated the great chemistry between the two by delivering consistent laughs and action. Initially I had concerns about the two working together but this clip changed my perceptions of the entire movie. I can't be anymore excited than I am right now!
Before any questions were asked, the actors on the panel (Swardson, Pena, Ansari) introduced their characters and their roles. When the questions started, director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) stated that he was attracted to shooting this film because he thought it allowed great humorous opportunities while giving him the chance to try something more “different and personal”. Later, he talked about how a good chunk of the jokes in the movie were improvised due to random conversations. When he talked about his cast, Ruben mentioned noted that Eisenberg literally followed went on a ride-along with a pizza guy to prepare for his role and that he did all of his own driving during shooting.
Aziz Ansari gave us lots of laughs too. Ansari said that he was watched a special fifteen minute clip of The Dark Knight Rises and laughed how none of us knew about it. He mentioned that he had never met Eisenberg prior to shooting. Nick Swardson joked about how he got excited for his role because he was going to use a flamethrower. However, his feelings changed when he was given the warnings and consequences prior to using it.
When a fan asked the director about Zombieland 2, Ruben stated that he’s unsure about filming anytime soon due to conflicting schedules and availability. To wrap things up, he also mentioned that he's currently shooting his upcoming gangster flick, titled Gangster Squad.
30 Minutes or Less will be in theaters August 12, 2011.
