It was reported a while back that SNES classics, Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger, will eventually be hitting the PlayStation Network for North America. Well, now we know when that will be: tomorrow!
The official PlayStation blog announced that on September 20th, both of these games will be available for purchase through the PSN. There's no price, but expect them to cost $9.99 like their other classic titles.
I have always considered Final Fantasy VI as the best in the series, so hopefully gamers who haven't yet played this can appreciate it as much as I have. The same goes for Chrono.
FFVI is already out on the PSN in Europe and Japan, but I guess we get first dibs on Chrono. Chrono Trigger has also recently been announced to get a iOS and Android release for mobile devices, but there's no official release date for that yet.
The PlayStation blog updated their site with:
UPDATE: This post incorrectly identified the release of two PSone Classics, Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. These titles will not be releasing on PSN at this time. We sincerely regret the error.
Aw, how lame. I was really looking forward to these games too. Oh well. I guess we'll have to wait for another release date! Sorry about that folks.
