MOVIES: Waita Uziga’s ‘Rain For the Dead’ Manga Gets Live-Action Film

Posted on November 3, 2011

Anyone up for more zombie action? Well, it appears that Waita Uziga's manga, Ame-Agari no Kimi (Rain For The Dead), will be getting a live-action adaptation.

ANN reports that Uziga announced the news on his blog, saying that his zombie manga got green-lit for a movie, and it is slated for a summer 2012 release. As for how the name applies, the story focuses on a man who can only venture off when it's raining, since the rain conceals his scent from the zombies. There is also a woman in the story, but I don't want to get into details about that (it gets pretty crazy).

Uziga's is mostly known for Mai-chan no Nichijō. If you haven't heard of that or aren't familiar with the man's work, let me tell you, they're EXTREMELY graphic. Like... grotesquely graphic (you've been warned). I've read some of Rain For The Dead, and it's pretty crazy disgusting too. But hey, it has zombies, and people love zombies nowadays.

Uziga will be executive producer for the film, and Bishop Koyama will be both writing and directing. Zerai Naoi will be the special make-up artist
