GAMING: Spike TV’s Video Game Awards’ Nominees and Categories Announced!

Posted on November 16, 2011

Spike TV has announced nominees for the 2011 Video Game Awards -- the network's ninth annual live televised event to celebrate the best in games. Can you guess which titles got nominated for Game of the Year?

Let's get to the good stuff. Here are the nominations for Game of the Year:

Batman: Arkham City (Warner Bros Interactive / Rocksteady Studios)
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda Softworks / Bethesda Game Studios)
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Nintendo)
Portal 2 (Valve)
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (Sony Computer Entertainment / Naughty Dog)

I don't know about you guys but I completely agree with that list. With Batman: Arkham City proving that not all superhero video games suck, Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim living up to fans expectations, IGN stating that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the best Zelda game ever created, Portal 2's distinct gameplay and addictive co-op mode, and Naughty Dog's iconic Uncharted franchise returning from winning Best PS3 Game in 2009 with Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception; it's no doubt that this will be one of the most exciting VGAs in history.

The two-hour event honoring the outstanding achievements within the video game industry over the past year will premiere LIVE on Spike TV, MTV 2 and on Saturday, December 10 at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT.
