GEEK BABE of the MONTH: Caroline Knight
To start of the new year, we have Caroline Knight! We bumped into her at the first annual Comikaze-Con in Los Angeles where she dressed up as the vampire comic heroine, Vampirella. She's a well rounded comic geek also loves manga and gaming. So here you go guys, here's Caroline, our January geek babe of the month!
C4G: Hey there Caroline! Let's have you introduce yourself to our readers please.
Caroline: Hello there darling! I'm Caroline Knight. I am an artist, cosplayer, and model. I have been to California conventions since 2009 and have made some of my costumes or bought them and pieced them together. I attend mostly Southern California conventions and plan to possibly attend out of state conventions in the future. The cosplays I do are for fun and portray my fangirl devotedness to the character that I cosplay.
C4G: Awesome. Alrighty, so we actually first bumped into each other during Comikaze-Con where you were dressed up as Vamprella. What made you decide to cosplay as the vampire heroine?
Caroline: I have been a fan of Vampirella for a few months now after reading one of the first 1969 comics. I just love the character and decided to cosplay as her at the first annual Comikaze. I completely hand-sewed my Vampirella costume and it was finished in about 3 weeks.
C4G: By the way, I noticed that you seemed to have turned quite a few heads in that outfit. Were you expecting that kind of attention during the con?

Caroline: Yes and No to be honest (laughs). Yes, because I guessed that there are barely any Vampirella cosplayers at conventions these days, and the Vampirella costume is pretty revealing. No, because Vampirella has ridiculously huge double D breasts and a skinny body, while I have average size breasts and a skinny body. But I decided to cosplay as Vampirella anyway because I love the character and in reality a woman that looks exactly like Vampirella and still has a really skinny, stick body must have had breast augmentation. Even though I have nothing against people who have had breast enhancements, I just show that in reality, this is what a skinny figure looks like as well as showing my cosplay devotion to Vampirella.
C4G: Are you currently reading Eric Trautmann's Vampirella series?
Caroline: I have not to be honest, but I have read one of the very first Vampirella comics by Frank Frazetta and got hooked into that. I plan to read recent Vampirella comics soon.
C4G: What other comic book titles have you been up to date with?
Caroline: Recently I've read DC's Batwoman Elegy at a nearby bookstore and I liked it a lot. The artwork was excellent as well as the story. I thought they did a really interesting take with Batwoman being Jewish and a lesbian hero in the DC universe. I won't explain or spoil the story for those who haven't read the book yet though, but it's a great read and I highly recommend it.
C4G: How about Manga? Read any Japanese comics?
Caroline: Oh yes! I read some manga as well. I have read Rurouni Kenshin, Death Note, Yu Yu Hakusho, Model by Lee So-Young, and Fullmetal Alchemist. I enjoy these particular mangas al lot because the stories are great, intelligent, and they're sometimes unpredictable, especially Death Note. I have yet to read the Black Butler manga, but I've heard it is really good.
C4G: What do you think about Warner Bros. adapting Death Note and Akira into live-action, American films?
Caroline: I actually liked the live-action Death Note movies, and I even own the DVDs. As for the live-action Akira, I have never heard anything about that until now to be honest (laughs) so I have no idea. However, future anime live-action movies will do great if the movie is well written and the fan base is big, so it could end up being a success. You never know.
C4G: Ah, so speaking of movies, there are quite a few highly-anticipated titles this year, with the top three being comic book films. Any one in particular that you're really excited for?
Caroline: Definitely The Dark Knight Rises. I am a huge Batman and Christopher Nolan fan. I watched the new trailer just recently and already the film looks fantastic. Out of all movies next year, this is the one I'm most excited for and I can't wait till the film is released this upcoming July!
C4G: What was your favorite movie in 2011?
Caroline: It would have to be Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2. It was thrilling, powerfully acted, visually dazzling and a great conclusion to the series. I have read all of the Harry Potter books and unlike the previous Potter films, I find this movie closely follows the book as much as possible. I will miss the Harry Potter adventure, but this is how it was meant to end.
C4G: Any huge letdowns?
Caroline: For 2011 I was a bit disappointed with the Green Lantern movie. It wasn't too bad but it also wasn't too good either. I was expecting the Green Lantern to be just as grand as The Dark Knight due to the origins in the comics and the scope of the Green Lantern universe. The film was predictable, but the film had no intention to be plausible either, but they did an okay job explaining the character's origins. I await the sequel and I hope it will be much better than the first.
C4G: You seem to be fairly well-rounded geek! Do you game at all?
Caroline: As a matter of fact, I do!
C4G: Tell us some of the games you've recently played.
Caroline: I have played Red Dead Redemption, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Jak and Daxter, Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel, Fullmetal Alchemist and the Crimson Elixir, Batman Arkham Asylum, and Fable 3. These are the games that I've found very addicting, and most of these games were well written in terms of the story. I have still yet to play Assassins Creed and Batman Arkham City, but I'm planning to soon.

C4G: Any games you're looking forward to in 2012?
Caroline: I am really hoping for that remake of Final Fantasy VII. I read from NerdTrek that Final Fantasy VII: Jenova’s Rebirth would be a possible 2012 release. But as for others, I don't usually find out about a new upcoming video game until last minute or an online article. As of right now, nothing comes to mind. There's still a few titles I want to play from 2011.
C4G: Here's our random fight question: Superman or The Sentry?
Caroline: Superman. His strength is just too great. I mean Superman was able to survive the Omega Beams, which are beams that disintegrate anything they touch on impact, and he is smart and more mentally stable than Sentry. Superman would eventually figure out how Sentry's powers work and use the Sentry's mental instability to his advantage. The fight would probably end with Superman trying to help out Sentry anyway.
C4G: So, according to the Mayan calendar, the world is supposed to end this year. What would be the worst way for our existence to go out? Zombie infestation, nuclear holocaust, alien invasion, or some kind of Skynet takeover.

Caroline: Ah yes, the "Doomsday" 2012 phenomenon. Well, I know hearing people say "the end of the world is coming" over and over is torture enough. I say… our existence would die out by a zombie infestation. Yep. In a way we are all like zombies anyway (laughs). Slaving away with daily work, while slowly rotting away and spreading our diseases.
C4G: Wow, that's really depressing (laugh). Any new year resolutions for 2012?
Caroline: My new year's resolution would be to create more cosplay costumes and try to attend to more conventions in California. Even possibly create and sell cosplay costumes or artwork later this year if I have the time.
C4G: So before we close this interview, would you have any other hobbies worth mentioning?
Caroline: I read a lot of books, I like sewing and designing clothes and costumes. I love creating new ideas with my artwork, spending time with my friends and family, going the beach, shopping, traveling, and I love the nightlife.
C4G: I'm sure we're probably going to be bumping into you at more cons. Any upcoming conventions you plan on hitting up this year?
Caroline: Why of course! It will be great seeing you guys again! I will be attending all of these upcoming events that will be in California: Anime Conji this March in San Diego, Long Beach Comic Expo this May, Anime Expo this June-July, San Diego Comic Con this July if I can get the tickets, Long Beach Comic and Horror Con, and definitely Comikaze again. If you happen to see me, don't be shy! Stop by and say hi!
C4G: Oh definitely. Well, thank you so much for your time Caroline! It's been a pleasure. Would you have a Facebook, Twitter or website that our readers could check out?
Caroline: And I thank you for the interview! I had a great time! Everyone is welcome to check out my accounts/websites: my Facebook cosplay page, my Facebook artwork page, my Deviantart, Twitter, and my YouTube page. Bye guys!
