GAMING: Elder Scrolls MMO To Be Announced in May

Posted on March 15, 2012

Well, this news is sure to cause a bit of a ruckus around the internet. According to writer Devin Connors from, Bethesda is planning to announce an Elder Scrolls MMO this May. And just when you thought Skyrim wasn't addicting enough...

So where did Mr. Connors hear such news? Well, "an industry source" who wants to remain anonymous. According to the source, the game (which they have named Elder Scrolls Online) will be taking place a whole millenium before The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and several hundred years before any of the other games.

There will be three different playable factions that players will be able to choose from, says the unnamed source. And while details on these are scarce, each faction will be represented by an animal: a lion, a dragon and either an eagle or a phoenix. Bethesda plans on making the official announcement in May, and will have an even stronger presence during E3 in Los Angeles. It's said that Elder Scrolls Online will also make an appearance during Quakecon in August.

While many fans are probably really surprised with this MMO news, Elder Scrolls Online is hardly any kind of top-secret project. ZeniMax and Bethesda have had up jobs listings for a while already, which clearly lists "MMO experience a plus" being a requirement. Here are some of the job listings they posted up: Concept Artist, Art Producer, Graphics Programmer.

A few of the people who have seen these listings assumed it was for a Fallout MMO (which I've been wanting for years now), but it looks like that isn't the case. Of course, nothing has been confirmed with Bethesda yet, so don't get your hopes up. Regardless, are any of you excited for the possibility of a Elder Scrolls MMO?
