MOVIES: Edgar Wright Teases ‘Ant-Man’ Film With New Image

Posted on May 7, 2012

Marvel's The Avengers has lived up to the hype (we gave it a big fat 9/10, and it currently hold a 93% on RottonTomatoes), it has broken the domestic all-time biggest opening weekend, and fans now are eagerly waiting for the next Avengers installment. Of course, we're going to have to wait for a couple of other films before that. We might even see movie featuring Hank Pym (aka Ant-Man) pretty soon!

So far, Marvel Studios' plans on releasing Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2 (in that order) for their next projects after The Avengers. Other movies that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed was Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, and yes, Ant-Man, which Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs The World) was attached to direct.

Wright has been working on the script for years already (with Joe Cornish, director of Attack The Block), and with the huge success that The Avengers has had this past weekend, it looks like we might be getting that movie. Edgar Wright tweeted this image recently...

Received this in the mail. What can it mean?

Man + Ant = Ant-Man. Well, it makes sense, doesn't it?

A couple of months ago, BleedingCool talked to Feige about the Edgar Wright, Ant-Man, and he said...

"It’s somewhere. I’ll just say it’s closer than it’s ever been in its long maybe eight year history, and I usually e-mail Edgar every two or three days and over those eight years its got further away and closer… we are now closer than we’ve ever been. So I hope it will come together shortly."

Other movies Marvel had planned on doing in the future was The Inhumans, Luke Cage and Black Panther.
