GEEK GAL of the MONTH: Paris Sinclair

Posted on June 1, 2012

It's June, which means that it's convention season! And since the cons are filled with cosplayers, what better way to do June, than with a cosplayer for Geek Gal of the Month? Let me introduce Paris Sinclair, a super geeky-gal who loves video games, comics, and also dressing up as her favorite characters.

C4G: Hey there Paris! Could you please introduce yourself to all our readers?

Paris: Hey guys! I’m Paris Sinclair from Paradise Cosplay! I’m from Tempe, Arizona and I attend Arizona State University with a major in Nutrition. I work at the ASU gym and I’m 19 years old. I’m full Persian but I was born in Cali and I absolutely LOVE playing video games, watching sci fi and reading comics. Oh, and of course, COSPLAY!

C4G: Okay, so we actually met for the first time at this year's WonderCon in Aneheim. We bumped into you while you were cosplaying Jade from Mortal Kombat... which by the way, looked super dope. So how long have you been cosplaying?

Paris: Thank you, Richard! I have been cosplaying for about five years now. I started when I was 14, and was really into anime at the time. A friend suggested I go to a convention, and I did my first closet cosplay as Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket! I had such a blast! I knew I had to keep going to them!

C4G: Who're you planning on cosplaying next?

Paris: My cosplay plans are so far Raven from Teen Titans, Ms. Fortune from Skull Girls, and Holly Summers from No More Heroes!

C4G: Alrighty, so let's start with the video games. What are you currently playing right now?

Paris: Currently I am playing Diablo III! It is such a great game! So addictive though, I cannot stop! I’m also a huge League of Legends player, and I love playing Skull Girls too!

C4G: Street Fighter vs Tekken vs Mortal Kombat. Who would win?

Paris: Oh jeez that is a hard question, haha. I’m also extremely biased! Have you seen Mortal Kombat’s fatalities?! I think it’s pretty obvious the Kombatants would win haha. Street Fighter and Tekken characters don’t look as intimidating either! I'm pretty sure Scorpion, Sub Zero and Raiden would demolish Ryu, Bison and Heihachi! And the killer trio of Mileena, Jade and Kitana would make Cami, Chun-Li and Nina look like a joke! That’s just my opinion though, haha.

C4G: What are you most excited for, the PS4, Xbox 720, or Wii U?

Paris: Well lately I’ve been really into PC gaming, so I’m not even sure! I own the 360, Wii, and PS3, but I definitely play 360 the most. Not so much Wii or PS3. So I guess I’d say the 720!

C4G: Comics. What are you currently reading?

Paris: I am currently reading The Walking Dead and The Uncanny X-Men! I am absolutely in love with the Walking Dead comics and I own the whole first compendium and the rest of the comics up to issue 96. The show is also amazing as well but I think the comics will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s so action packed and dramatic! I’m also reading the X-Men because well... who doesn’t love the X-Men?! It’s been a while since my last X-Men comic so I figured I’d dig into the past.

C4G: The big Marvel event right now is The Avengers vs The X-Men. Who do you think is going to win this one?

Paris: I’m also very biased on this one! I would pick the X-Men because there’s so many of them with amazing powers. Especially if we’re talking about the original Avengers against the original X-Men.

C4G: Speaking of which, what did you think of the Avengers? And please, no spoilers.

Paris: I absolutely Loved the Avengers movie! I got to see a pre-screening a week before it came out, so I had a blast. It was absolutely amazing and I’m SO EXCITED for the next one! Kinda sad they didn’t have Ant-Man and Wasp in it. Even though many people would argue that they were useless, haha.

C4G: I'm sure you know that The Avengers is constantly breaking records, and it looks like it'll even top Avatar, eventually. You think The Dark Knight Rises will beat it?

Paris: That’s really hard to tell! Both have had some big anticipation built up so who knows if Dark Knight will beat it! It’s definitely very possible! Personally, I’m a Marvel fan, but I will definitely see The Dark Knight too!

C4G: Hm, alrighty... so I got to ask this question to everyone who loves comics. Marvel or DC?

Paris: Marvel! By far!

C4G: Oh, and you say you used to watch anime, right? What kind of anime did you watch?

Paris: Yeah, I did, haha. I watched a lot of Shoujo manga, meaning it’s aimed towards teenage girls! I was a huge sap for the cheesy romance! I also got into action after a while too!

C4G: Do you watch any anime now?

Paris: Unforunately, I have not watched anime in quite a while, but I definitely plan on checking some more out in the near future.

C4G: Wow, you're a total geek! I love it! Haha. So, do you have any non-geeky hobbies you'd like to tell us?

Paris: Yes! I have a lot! I personally love playing tennis and working out in my spare time. I also love to go hiking and rock climbing. I’m also really into electric dance music so I try to attend as many shows/raves out here as possible!

C4G: It's safe to say that guys like us would love to date someone a bit geeky. How about you? Would you date a geek?

Paris: It’s actually in my criteria to only date geeky guys! I could not be able to stand a guy without any geekiness! It’s more fun this way so we could play video games together or watch sci-fi or even share the same comics!

C4G: Would you rather date a superhero or a supervillain?

Paris: It depends. I like the rebelliousness in some villains but if they’re going to be selfish and end up leaving me I’d go with a superhero! The perfect guy for me would be batman. I don’t consider him a superhero nor a vigilante... but a dark, mysterious, rebellious man. That’s also just me though, haha.

C4G: And for our zombie question of the month: Raccoon City or Silent Hill? Where would you rather live?

Paris: DEFINITELY Raccoon City! Because then at least I know it’s a virus that made them that way. But in Silent Hill, there are some crazy, terrifying creatures that literally come out of no where! It’s more imaginary, so I’d take the more realistic type!

C4G: Okay, awesome. So, I guess that's the end of the interview. Thanks Paris! Do you have a Twitter, Facebook or webpage you'd like us to link our readers up with?

Paris: Yes! My facebook fanpage is www.facebook.com/OfficialParisSinclair and my twitter is just @uhohitsparis!
