This coming weekend marks the release of The Expendables 2, and producer Avi Lerner is already planning the next installment. With Expendables 2 having to add more names to their star studded list (Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme being two), you can expect The Expendables 3 to be doing the same. So who do they have in mind? Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Wesley Snipes & Nicolas Cage.
The guys at TotalFilm were able to sit down with the producer, who began talking about his plans for the next sequel in his action-packed franchise, including who he wants, who he already has on board, and who he wants returning:
“We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters].
And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]”
So there you go. Cage is reportedly signed on for a part already (Cage would be playing a character called "Hunter"), while Ford, Eastwood and Snipes are currently in talks. And while I'd definitely love to see all four of these actors in the next movie, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's vouching for Liam Neeson to get in on this, right?
The Expendables 2 hits theaters this Friday, August 17.
