MOVIES: Joss Whedon Debunks ‘Planet Hulk’ & ‘World War Hulk’ Rumors

For those who were excited about the rumor that the third Avengers film could possibly focus on the Greg Pak storyline, World War Hulk, I got some bad news for you.

Early last month, we reported on a bit that came exclusively from Latino Review, claiming that Marvel and Disney are planning to base their third Avengers film on the popular World War Hulk story, and maybe have Hulk star in his own feature film based on Planet Hulk. But during an interview with IGN, Joss Whedon spoke up on the Hulk rumors, and this is what he said...

"Well I’m really not supposed to comment, but no, that’s nonsense."

So there you have it guys. Of course, this could be Joss covering up LR's scoop, but I'd doubt that. While LR usually hits the jackpot with these kinds of things, it seems like they missed this time. Oh well.

Although I'm feeling bummed out about this, it isn't too bad. Joss still gives us a little something to think about in terms of what to expect from Avengers 3:

"I've got the next story, and it's a corker. I haven't even been thinking in terms of superhero movies. The films I've been thinking about are 'The Godfather Part II' and 'The Empire Strikes Back'. Those are the stars by which I chart my course."

Interesting. Whatever it is, I'm all for it as long as Joss is leading the way.
