With the Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles currently in production, you're going to be hearing a lot on it in the next weeks. As we eagerly wait to see how the turtles will look with their computerized cosmetics, there's still a lot we don't know... like who the villain is. Now it looks like William Fichtner is on board, but who will he be playing?
Deadline broke the news, though isn't quite certain to which character he has been cast as. All we know is that he would be "playing a lead with iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology."
The obvious would be The Shedder, the main antagonist to the TMNT franchise. Sure, Fichtner looks nothing Japanese to play Oroku Saki, but Hollywood has shown to not really cares much about ethnicity when it comes to casting their actors. Who else would that leave? There's the Rat King, another iconic villain, but nowhere in the article says villain. Perhaps Casey Jones? Nah, that can't be it, he looks a little too old to play opposite of Megan Fox.
Well, according to a source of ours, he'll be playing Dr. Baxter Stockman, the evil scientist who creates "Mousers," little robots designed to kill sewer rats. He also transforms into a large, humanoid fly-creature after an incident he had with a transporter device.
Of course, this speculation that Fichtner would be playing the crazy scientist is far from any official confirmation, so take this as a rumor. But in the meantime, what do you guys think?
Ninja Turtles is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and is set for a June 6, 2014 release.
