We haven't had a Cosplay Spotlight in a while, and since convention season is upon us, we thought it would be a great time to bring it back! in this edition, we have the Theodore Linardos, who many people in the convention scene know simply as "Living Ichigo." I've had the chance to bump into him several times at conventions, and while he may not look it, he's a huge otaku and geek at heart. He can also probably bench press you.
C4G: Hey there Living Ichigo! Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Living Ichigo: Hey there! My real name is Theodore Linardos and I’m from Sacramento, California. I work as a restaurant manager. Cosplaying has to be my biggest hobby by far. On my free time I love to play video games and play cards like Yu-Gi-oh and Pokemon. I love working out at the gym to stay fit.
Oh, it's April. The weather is getting warmer, and flowers and beginning to bloom... and we also have another awesome geeky gal to for this month! Meet Jordan Powell, who also goes by the name "Jojo PadaFace." We've seen her at several conventions already in some awesome cosplays, and now she's been kind enough to give us some time to interview her about her geek hobbies.
C4G:: Hi there Jordan! Can you please introduce yourself to our readers please?
Jordan: Hey there! My real name is Jordan Powell and I’m from the Bay Area of California. I’m currently a full time student majoring in technical theatre. Cosplaying is my main hobby but I am heavily involved with my school’s costume shop. I’m also an avid comic nerd and gamer.
It's March! That means Spring is upon us! Well, that also means we have another awesome geeky gal to introduce to all of you! This month we have Stella Chuu, graphic designer by day, and cosplayer and burlesque performer by night. This New York resident attends tons of geek conventions, so if you live on the East Coast, you've probably seen Stella in one of her many cosplays.
C4G: Hey Stella! Let us start off with having you tell us a little about yourself.
Stella: I'm Stella Chuu, a cosplayer and burlesque performer based out of NYC. I travel along the east coast and central to attend conventions and perform at shows. During the daytime, I am a graphic designer specializing in iPhone apps and animation.
Everyone, meet Mia! We got to bump into her at New York Comic-Con, and while we didn't get to interview her then, she was nice enough to spend some of her time for this interview for our geeky gal of February! Currently residing in New York, this cosplayer loves comics, anime, and also spends a good amount of time with them video games.
C4G: Hey there Ani-Mia! As we usually start of these things, could you please tell us a bit about yourself?
Mia: My name’s Mia, and I currently live in New York, but not the cool NYC… further upstate and much colder. I’ve lived all over and would have to say that my favorite place is Seattle where I’ve spent a good majority of my life. Right now, I have a very normal corporate job but every other moment is spent as a cosplayer.
It's 2013, and there was no Skynet takeover... or alien invasion... or zombie apololypse... or some weird planetary alignment that would cause the world to implode. No. Instead, we'll have another year filled with more highly anticipated games, films other awesome geeky things. Today also means our first featured geeky gal of the year, Lindsay Elyse!
C4G: Hey there Lindsay! Please introduce yourself to our readers!
Lindsay: HELLO! I'm Lindsay, 21 years old, born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. I've been gaming since the NES, cosplaying since gradeschool. I just completed my AA for Journalism this winter, but plan to transfer to ASU in the fall. When I'm not annihilating things in video games, I write for the school paper and for a pretty awesome magazine. I also model! I'm a member of the all-girl media group the XX Girls and we cover conventions and post videos and review stuff. PRETTY AWESOME.
For the month of December, we have Leen Isabel, an all around geeky gal who's into gaming, comics, cosplay, anime and samurai flicks. She's also a Trekkie and a fantastic artist. Attractive, geeky and talented. Pretty awesome combo, I must say.
C4G: Heya Leen! We always have our lady of the month introduce herself first, so please, tell us a bit about 'yer self.
Leen: Hello Critiques 4 Geeks! I’m happy to be your December Geek Gal! I’m Leen Isabel and I’m from Los Angeles, California. I’m a Chinese-Filipino American who loves illustrating, sequential art, anime, cosplay and video games. I work as an illustrator to pay the bills, so my job and my aforementioned interests keeps me pretty darn busy!
You see the picture to the left, you immediately say to yourself, "wow, that has got to be the best looking Joker cosplay I've ever seen." Well, a lot of people would probably agree with you. He's been featured all over the web, we've seen him all over cosplay forums and images galleries, and now we have even gotten the pleasure to interview the man himself. Ladies and gentlemen, Harley's Joker.
C4G: Ah, the famous Harley's Joker. Please, tell us a bit about the man underneath the make-up.
Joker: Well, my name is Anthony Misiano, and I suppose I'm a bit of a modern day renaissance man. I have experience under my belt as an actor, director, makeup artist, costume designer, cinematographer and composer. I began acting at the age of fourteen and have since performed in dozens of stage productions throughout Southern California. I studied formally as an actor and a mime, and in 2008 left theatre work to pursue acting on film. I began producing and directing films through my company, Inventive Works, including my 2011 Gilliam-esque fantasy adventure, “Moonflower.”
It's been a while, but with Anime Expo over and Comic-Con coming up, we had to get another one out there! Yep, we bring you another Cosplay Spotlight, this time featuring Crunchyroll's own Victoria Holden! We've actually bumped into her at several cons, and although I've only got to hang out with her for a couple of minutes each time, I have to say she's one of the nicest, coolest people in the cosplay/convention scene. Anyway, on with the interview!
C4G: Hello Victoria! Could you please introduce yourself to everybody?
Victoria: Of course ~ ! My name is Victoria Holden. I'm originally from Santa Rosa, California. I work at Crunchyroll.com as host of my own weekly live streaming anime talk show, as well as keep Crunchyroll a fun and exciting place to be as Community Manager!
